Abstract

When comparing different varieties or different strains of the same variety of rice for yielding capacity one important point that has to be borne in mind is that all seedlings must be as nearly uniform as possible at the time of transplanting. In planting although a good deal of care and attention is taken in the preparation of seedbeds as well as in the sowing of the seeds uniformly, a certain amount of difference does always occur. This is due to the condition of the seedbeds apart from the differ- ences which inhere in the varieties or strains themselves.
