Abstract

The uplift of the rural population from their poverty and ignorance and the ways and means of providing sufficient employment for the ryot during his spare time have, of late, been engaging the attention of the Government. It is also well known that numerous private rural recon- truclion centres have been organised with a view to ameliorate the condition of the masses, their main programme of work being hand spinning, temper. ance, education, sanitation, etc. Along with these, beekeeping is being advocated as a coltage industry.
