Investigations reported in the earlier communication (Satyanarayana, 1951) showed that the amount of D. D. T. (1:1:1) Trichloro-2:2-bis (P-Chlorophenylethane), recovered from the surfaces of apple leaves and estimated chemically varied with the mode of deposition, the nature of solvent used in the preparation of the insecticide, and the concentration of the insecticide itself. As it was next intended to see how far these chemical recoveries could be correlated with their biological performances experiments were conducted in advance to test the suitability of the insect used for the test and the extent to which the results could be relied upon and reproduced.
