Abstract

A study an soil and land use carried out in Rameswaram island and three seils viz.. Typic Ustipsamments, Calcic Ustipsamments and Calcic Ustochtepts were recognised, The properties of soil and quality of water were determined in the soil and water samples collected from the island. By making use of this information, a land use plan for developing the island in the fields of agriculture, forestry and tourism was prepared.
