Abstract

The comparative assessment of seed and seedling physiology, water absorption rato, coefficient of velocity of garmination (CVG), vigour index (VI), shoot and root characters showed high significance and reliability in the evaluation of greengram geno- types. Study of seed leachates showed that members of the low yielding group, leached more of total sugars, total amino acids and potassium as compared to medium or high yielders, Leaching out of useful substances, beyond a level as noted in low vielders is not desirable.
