Gingelly seeds stored under ambient conditions in cloth bag commenced deterioration at the fourth month of storage. Pre- treatments such as i) Hydration by soaking in water for 0.5 to 8.0 h. ii) Moisture equilibration in a saturated atmosphere for 2 to 96 h and iii) Iodine permeation in an iodine saturated atmosphere for 10 to 17 h were given to 4-month-old seeds followed by drying back to their original moisture in each case.
