In an investigation with six Fz generations along with their four parents of rice, it was found that the character ear bearing tillers showed positive and signficant association with grain yield in all the parents and F2s. Grain number also had significant association with grain yield in all the Fas and parents except one. Hence, it is suggested that the selection can more confidently be done based on these two characters for the improvement of grain yield in rice
