EFFECT OF TEMPERATURE ON THE DURATION OF VEGETATIVE PHASE OF RICE VARIETIES IN LOW LANDS OF KASARAGOD DISTRICT

Abstract

The maximum air temperature during the vegetative phase had a definite control on its duration in the varieties Jaya and Thonnooran. The number of days required for both the varieties was much less if the maximum temperature was above 31°C. A simple regression equation was fitted for estimating the number of days required for the vegetative phase using the maximum temperature during the period.
