GROWTH, YIELD AND QUALITY OF SORGHUM UNDER DOUBLE CROPPING SYSTEMS WITH REFERENCE TO FERTILIZER MANAGEMENT

Abstract

The important yield components of sorghum, grain and fodder yield and harvest index, protein per cent and protein production were significantly increased with full dose as compared to half does during both the years. The beneficial residual effects of late and mid-late sown wheat were observed on yield components and grain and fodder yield of sorghum as compared to sorghum after normal sown wheat. Protein content of sorghum was significantly increased with successive delay in wheat sowing during both the years. The important yield contributing characters and grain and fodder yields of sorghum were favourably influenced due to application of 2/3 of the recommended levels of fertilizers to wheat over 1/3 of the recommended level of fertilizer application. Protein content of sorghum was increased with increased levels of fertilizer application to wheat during both the years.
