Abstract


Green Revolution was successfully accomplished in India wherever irrigation and drainage facilities are available. Irrigation is the single major input which decides stabilised and increased production in this country. In a tropical region like South India, where the only normality in the rainfall distribution is abnormality and the only certainity in the rainfall distribution is uncertainty irrigation management is important. In agricultural sector, many changes have taken place. Irrigation management in India airing higher productivity and equity is a nun-traditional approach since this society is static, stagnant and hierarchial in character.
