President, Ladies and Gentlemen, Within the short time at my disposal neither in it possible, not is it proposed, to deal with the details of work conneted with plant breeding in general or with Rice Breeding in the district. The very recent origin of the station at Aduturai does not authorise one to form generalised opinions and we have to wait for some year before definite results can be announced to the public.All that is attempted in this paper is the consideration of one or two factors bearing on Rice breeding especially in its relation to trade.
