Abstract


Dr. Barber's son, Geoffrey Osborn Barber (aged 13 years) obtained the Francis Wilmer Macaulay Scholarship of £75 per annum at the Leys School Cambridge. He was bracketted second, gained Honour's marks in English, Latin, Mathematics and Essay, and was one of the youngest who sat at the examination. He is said to have won the highest distinction obtained by any boy from Caldicott, his preparatory school. In this school he won the swimming championship and was in all the teams of cricket, foot- ball and hockey.
