Abstract


The Loccadves are a small group of islands that lie in the Arabian sea and are under the Madras Administration.Some are inhabited.while several are uninhabited.The nearest is Androth which is 124miles s.w.w.of Xalicut and the farthest is Minicpy which is 260 miles distant on the south Westly direction.of the 10 inhabited islands Amini, Kadamath.Kittan Chetlat with a few neighbouring uninhabited islands,are within the jusidiction of the Collector of South Kanara and form the Norethern portion of the group,while the rest belong to Malabar.
