Dwaraknath presented a similar cup in a sportsman-like manner for an intercollegiate competition in foot ball in which he was equally interested. The committee at the college to whom he left the details of the tournament found it impracticable to run a foot ball competition, as there was already a competition for the foot ball shield open to the institutions of Coimbatore and Salem. The Committee's next attempt to get the other educational institu- tions in Coimbatore to join in a tennis tournament met with little response. The committee therefore recomended to Mr. Dwaraknath that the cup be instituted for competition in Tennis singles amongst the College students only. The donor having accepted, 13 students entered the tournament for the cup, now called "The R. Cecil Wood Cup".T. Budhavidheya Rao, class III met B.
