Abstract


"Bhatkal Malliga" is one of the prominent varieties of Jasmine cultivated in South Canara; and it has derived its name from the town of the same name in North Canara, from where it spread. Soil. It is raised on small plots of about 25 cents, by the enter- prising Christian communities at Coondapur and Udipi. A successful. crop is seen in localities where the soil is loamy, fairly deep, and has good drainage and irrigation facilities.
