Abstract

The term vernalization is a comparatively new one and its original equivalent in Russian is Jarovizotie. The term signifies (a) a stage of development during the germination of seeds; (b) the process developed by Lyssenko by which the flowering phase of a plant is forced earlier than usual by certain pre-treatments of the seed.
