The subject of Agricultural Economies has been given a status equal to other subjects like Agriculture, Chemistry or Botany for the n. se., (Ag.) examination at the Agricultural College from the year 1946-1947. On the practical side the subject includes Rural Economie studies to bo undertaken by the students independently as well as directly under the guidance of the Lecturer. Every student is expected to do one survey of n village and submit the same at the University examination, for valuation. It has been decided to publish a brief review of the more interesting aspects of rural economic conditions as revealed in selected surveys done by students, portaining to the district of Coimbatore.
