Benzene hexachloride (BHC)-(CH C1-hexachlorocyclo- hexane) was discovered by 1941 in France to have high insecticidal properties. This formulation is built up of mainly five isomers, of which the Gammaisomer' (constituting about 10-12%) possesses outstanding lethal properties against insects (Slade 1945).
