India is planning to expand its sugar industry. The ninth session of International Society of Sugarcane Technologists was therefore appropriately held at Delhi in January this year. This gave opportunity for many scientists and farmers of this country to come into contact with the International authorities visiting this country on this occasion. A review of the salient features of the industry of different countries as could be gathered from this conference may therefore be of interest to the farmers at large.
