Abstract


Mixed cropping with unirrigatou deshs cotton (Gossypium arboreum) is the most common feature in the black soil tract of the Tirunelveli District. Dotniled enquiries were made with the cotton farmors of the tract for three years and useful data collected and discussed in this papor. This practice helps to combat the vagarios of seasonal influences and provent total crop failure, and also affords economically distributed resources from the field, An additional incomo ranging from Rs. 25 to 45 is obtained from the mixed crop over that of the pure cotton crop.
