Abstract

Eight soil samples representing the four major soil typos of South India were studied for their chemical composition and baso-exchange capacity and from the available data it could be concluded that black and laterite soils contain montmorillonito and kaolinito as dominant clay minerals, respectively, and the alluvial soils, a mixture of clay minerals.
