Optimization of Acid Pretreatment Conditions for Enhancing Glucose Yield of Rice Straw Using Response Surface Methodology (RSM)

Abstract

Response Surface Methodology (RSM) was employed to optimize acid pretreatment condition for maximum glucose yield of rice straw with respect to H2SO4 concentration (1.0-5.0%), reaction temperature (60-100°C) and pretreatment time (30-90 min). The maximum glucose yield of 259.40g kg-1 of biomass was obtained at the desirable pretreatment condition of H2SO4 3 % at 80°C for 60min. The ANOVA test revealed that the model and all independent parameters were statistically significant at 95% confidence level.
