Groundnut kernels have a rich variety of seed cont colours like rose, red, purple, white and mixed colours of white and red with different shades and patterns. However, only rose and red coloured groundnut seeds predominate in all commercial varieties. The problem of evolving a white seeded strain by hybridization was taken up for the first time at the Regional Research Station, Tindivanam.
