Abstract

Under the All India Co-ordinated Crop Weather Scheme, investigation of soil moisture in relation to growth and yield of Co. 1 and Co. 3 strains of dry sorghum was taken up from the year 1949-50 at Coimbatore. From 1959-60 Co. 19, a hybrid derivative of Co. 3 with similar plant characters, was substituted in the place of Co. 3. The soil moisture data collected for 13 years from 1951-52 to 1964-'05 (with the exception of the year 1963-64, when the crop was not raised due to non- receipt of sowing rains in July, 1963) are critically examined in this paper.
