Collection and evaluation of varieties is very essential in any crop. improvement work. The studies were conducted (i) to evaluate 86 indigenous and 23 inbread lines of maize introduced from U S. A. for yield and other economic characters and (ii) to estimate the extent of heterosis exhibited by these introduced inbred lines in cross combination with the local standard variety of mize and the results are presented in this paper.
