Abstract

A total of 30 hybrids, direct and reciprocal, involving six inbred lines of the pearl millet were studied to analyse the expression of hybrid vigour for yield and its compo- nents. Heterosis was expressed for the characters studied and a high magnitude was noted in plant height and panicle length. The combination, MS. 7625 x MS. 7373 with its reciprocal, proved to be superior for all the characters except tillering.
