In tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.), six parents and nine hybrids were evaluated through growth analysis. The number of leaves, leaf area index (LAI) and specific leaf weight showed a steady increase over the stages. On the other hand, a reduction was noticed from stage I to stage IV for specific leaf area and leaf area ratio. Most of the heterotic hybride, tended to have lower LAI. LAR, SLA and SLW than their respective parents.
