Losses in rice yield due to kresek (wilt) phase af bacterial blight

Abstract

The effect of Kresek (wilt) phase of bacterial blight on yield and important yield contributing factors of ries was studied under natural conditions. The loss in yiold wes related to the severity of the Kresek. The vigour of the tillers in infected hilte wes reduced. Under severe Kresek phase, the disease increased the chaffy grains to the tune of 55.59 per cent; reduced the 1000 grain welight by 49.62 per cent; consequently s loss of grain yield per hill as high as 94.18 per cent was observed. The higher Kreek Intensity also leads to wilting of hills.
