Abstract

                                electrified pumpsets were selected 'randomly from different villages for this study. The performance results of the pumpsets were obtained by testing them (1) in situ, and then (2) after rectifying the installation-errors made by the owners. During the course of the present work, the existing overall efficiency of the pumpsets was found to be varying from 26 17% to 33.71% and the unit power consumption. values varied from 0.82 KWh to 14 KWh. After rectification of errors, the overall efficiency of pumps was improved and found to be verying from 36% to 43.92% and the unit power consumption values varied from 0,63 KWh to 0.77 KWh Thus, this study has revealed the possibility of energy saving in the existing irrigation pumpsets in the range of 21.5% to 35.85% of the existing energy consumption level.
