PERFORMANCE OF GALL MIDGE AND BPH RESISTANT RICE CULTURES UNDER VARIED PROTECTION MANAGEMENTS

Abstract

Seven new gall misge resistant rico cultures and twe - resistent cultures ware testod under three different peat managements, Gall mid so and BPH resistant rice cultures nood protoction against vollow stem borer Selipophag incertulas Wik, which is a predominent pest in Warangal region. Similarly all the cultures viz.. Surekha, Mashuri. Vijaya Moshuri, Sona Mashuri. Tella Hamsa require protection from the increaston moneta of sonsonal pests like seal folder and whorl maggot. A variety like WGL 22245, which is totally resistant to midge and capable af staging recovery through inbuilt compensatory mechanism proved to be superior to other variaties, In view of the increasing plent protection cost, it is advisable to adopt a need based protection, oven on pest restant rice cultures, which is sound both economically and environmentally.
