Abstract

Field experiments were conducted during Kharif 1986 and 1987 at Tamil Nadu Agricul- tural University, Coimbatore to study the weed management practices in finger millet. The major weed flora in the experimental plots was the Trianthema portulacastrum which constituted 85 per cent of the weed population. Pre-emergence application of Oxadiazon 0.5 kg.ha'' or pendi- methalain 0.75 kg.ha¹ followed by one late manual weeding at 30 days after transplanting reduced the weed number and dry matter production and enhanced the weed control efficiency yield and net profit.
