Abstract

The sorghum variety K-8 is a short duration high yielding variety suitable for rabi season in the southem districts of Tamil Nadu. Its average grain yield is 2440 kg/ha which is 23.3 per cent more than K-5. Grain and straw are good in quality and hence valuable as a food and feed crop. It is non-lodging and resistant to terminal drought. It is moderately resistant to major pests and diseases.
