Field experiments were conducted on rainfed groundnut consequtively for three years with different bed sizes and intercrops with and without inorganic nutrient substitution. The results on the influence of the different intercrops on the growth and yield characters of base crop of groundnut showed that in general pulses and in particular redgram and blackgram influenced the plant height, LAI, DMP, Shelling percentage, number of pods per plant, yield of pods and haulms of the base crop of groundnut.
