Abstract

Path analysis was studied for 10 quantitative characters in early rice varieties. Grains per panicle recorded the highest positive direct effect on yield and positive indirect effect via productive tillers, panicle weight and grain weight. Highest negative direct effect was recorded by dry matter. Selection based on number of grains per panicle with more productive tillers will be efficient.
