EFFECT OF PLANT DENSITY AND NUTRIENT LEVELS ON NEW COTTON VARIETIES

Abstract


Experiments were conducted at the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore during the winter seasons of 1991-92, 1992-93 and 1993-94 to find out the optimum spacing and fertilizer level for the new varieties of cotton. The results revealed that the varieties LRK $16, MCU 11. TCH 1002 and TCH 1028 recorded more seed cotton yield with closer spacings of 75 x 20 cm and 60 x 15 cm with a fertilizer level of 80:40:40 kg NPK ha-1.
