CO 47 is a derivative of the cross IR 50 / CO 43. It is semidwarf (80-90 cm), non lodging and matures in 110-115 days. Average grain yield is 5.8 t ha. It possesses medium slender translucent white rice, with acceptable cooking qualities. It is resistant to blast disease. The rice variety, CO 47 is suitable for Sornavari, Kar and Kuruvai seasons and is a best alternative for ASD 18 and ADT 36 and it is recommended for replacing TKM 9 and IR 50.
