Abstract

Meloidogyne graminicola is a nematode pest that causes serious damage to rice crops. It was first noticed in Tamil Nadu in 2000 and has since spread to other parts of the state. Various methods have been attempted to manage the nematode, including pesticides, vegetable oil, botanicals, and identifying nematode-resistant varieties. However, limited work has been done on biological control. This study evaluates the biocontrol potential of Pseudomonas fluorescens in comparison with neem cake and chemical nematicides. Experiments were carried out on two rice varieties during the samba season. The results showed that P. fluorescens was effective in controlling the nematode problem in an ecofriendly manner.
